I never gave up and they never gave up on me. Now they are like family and definitely part of my fellowship."

"I was a junkie for 6 years. I didn't like anybody and I certainly didn't talk about my problems, I was way too "cool" for "feelings" and all that crap. So at first I was hesitant about joining a group. I thought it was corny and I didn't need it but I also knew what I was doing wasn't working. PACE taught me how to open up and get out of my head. I learned that talking about my problems isn't corny, it's necessary to staying sober and mentally/emotionally healthy. I've gotten a lot of amazing feedback, made real friends and most importantly had people to be accountable to during my early sobriety. I seriously doubt I would've been able to stay sober for this long and have the motivation and resources to keep working on my sobriety if I hadn't come to PACE."
"It took a lot of time and pain before I was ready to reach out for help. When I walked into PACE, I was nervous, sick and scared. I was received and welcomed with kindness, accepted and not judged. I wasn't sure if I could stick to the program or if I even wantded to. After the first meeting I realized I was not alone. From then on, I looked forward to them, I had to learn to take down my walls of defensiveness and shut up and listen. I had to share my feelings and most of all I learned to follow direction. I have learned a lot about myself and recovery, I have been given simple tools to use to help me stay sober. It's been a great journey but only the beginning. I feel so much better physically, mentally and spiritually. I have learned to take one day at a time and to love and to forgive myslef. I thank everyone at PACE and my higher power for where and who I am today."
